Abstract:
Global economic crisis took place in Serbia in the same model and almost at the same time as in other countries. The reduction in economic activity as a result of its impact is reflected in the demand for labor, which caused significant changes in the labor market in Serbia. Available data from the Labor Force Survey of the Statistical Office, as well as data from the registries of the National Employment Service confirm that state. Impact of the crisis on labor market outcomes has been quite dramatic and reflected in the significant decline in employment and activities of all its stakeholders, especially vulnerable groups which include women. According to researching about poverty in Serbia, unemployment and inactivity are the main causes of social exclusion and poverty in this country. The position of women in the labor market is significantly correlated with poverty, since labor income is the primary determinant of their living standards. Participation of women in the labor market is an important determinant of their economic independence and an important source of their social security. Paid work affects the relative role and status of women in the family, as well as their wider participation in society, because it gives them the possibility of social and personal development. Accordingly, the living standard of women as vulnerable groups can be improved by improving their employment, and therefore their status in the labor market. The aim of this study was to examine the impact of the crisis on the position of women as a vulnerable group in the labor market in Serbia, so we compared changes in key labor market indicators in 2009. with those in 2008. in relation to changes in these indicators for the total population of working age. The basis for these analyzes consisted of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) as a credible source of information required. The paper used in the LFS data in the three time points - April 2008, October 2008. and April 2009. Data from October 2008., with a recording of the labor market immediately preceding the outbreak of the crisis, given the most precise starting point for tracking what is happening with the labor market position of women and the outbreak of the crisis. The need to eliminate the influence of the season led us to compare the situation in the labor market from April 2008. with those from April 2009.. In both cases it should be noted that the difference in the major indicators of labor market \'before\' and \'after\' the crisis reflects not only the impact of the crisis, but also the impact of transition and privatization in Serbia who are already in an advanced stage. The final part gives an overview of the status of women in the labor markets of countries in the region (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and Montenegro) and the said the main conclusions and recommendations reached in the work there.
